Favicon settings
Use this theme settings group to upload the small brand icon shown in browser tabs and bookmarks. Even though it appears at a very small size, it plays an important role in brand recognition and gives the store a more polished feel.
Favicon image
Section titled “Favicon image”Choose a single image to represent your store outside the main page layout. This setting applies globally, so one upload controls the favicon wherever the theme displays it.
A simple square image usually works best. 512 × 512 px is the recommended size, and common formats such as SVG or transparent PNG work well when the artwork is clean and easy to recognize.
If the favicon looks unclear, the artwork is usually too detailed for the available space. Strong contrast, bold shapes, and minimal detail tend to produce the best result.
For additional image guidance, see Company XYZ documentation on favicon settings. For a broader overview of theme customization, see Shopify documentation on customizing themes
Usage notes
Section titled “Usage notes”- Use a square asset. Square artwork scales more predictably and helps the icon stay balanced at small sizes.
- Keep the design simple. Avoid text, thin lines, and complex logo arrangements that become hard to read in a tab.
- Check contrast carefully. Make sure the icon remains visible against both light and dark browser interfaces.
- Use transparency intentionally. Transparent PNG or SVG files can look cleaner, but the icon should still read clearly without a background.
