Footer menu
Use this block to display a navigation menu as a simple list of links in the footer. It is best for secondary navigation such as help pages, policies, account links, or service information, and it includes controls to help the block fit neatly into wider footer layouts. For a broader overview of how footer content is organized in the theme editor, see Shopify documentation on sections and blocks
Alignment settings
Section titled “Alignment settings”Use the desktop and mobile alignment controls to position the heading and menu links within the block. Separate alignment choices are helpful when a footer feels balanced on large screens but needs a different presentation once blocks stack on smaller screens.
Layout settings
Section titled “Layout settings”These settings control how the block behaves inside the footer layout. You can add a heading above the links, choose which menu to display, place the block in a new column or row, or let it stretch to fill leftover horizontal space.
Use the heading when the links need a clear label, such as Help, Customer care, or Policies. Keep the selected menu short and purposeful so customers can scan it quickly without the footer becoming crowded.
The layout controls are most useful when your footer combines several block types side by side. If you are arranging a more custom footer structure, the footer layout guidance can help.
Fill available space only affects desktop layouts. If the block still feels unbalanced on mobile, adjust mobile alignment or visibility instead.
Standard block settings
Section titled “Standard block settings”Visibility settings
Section titled “Visibility settings”Use visibility controls to show this block on desktop, mobile, or both. This is useful when you want a fuller footer menu on large screens but a simpler footer on mobile.
For shared visibility behavior, see Visibility settings.
Usage notes
Section titled “Usage notes”- Keep menus compact. Use this block for short, practical link groups rather than large navigation lists.
- Name the group clearly. Add a heading when the link purpose is not immediately obvious from surrounding footer content.
- Review both screen sizes. Check alignment, spacing, and link order on desktop and mobile so the menu stays easy to scan in each layout.
- Protect customer flow. Hidden, reordered, or mobile-only links can change what customers reach, so confirm the menu still surfaces the most important destinations.
- Use layout controls intentionally. Start a new row or column only when it improves footer structure, not just to force spacing.
- Hide by device when needed. Use visibility settings to simplify mobile footers or show a more complete link set on desktop.
