Features bar settings
Use these settings to define the default look and content of the features bar across supported search and menu interfaces. They also provide the starting point for the Features bar section, which helps you keep service highlights, trust signals, and short promotional messages consistent. For a broader overview of where theme-level controls live, see Shopify documentation on the theme editor
These settings act as global defaults. If a Features bar section has its own custom settings, those local choices can override what you set here.
Color settings
Section titled “Color settings”Use this group to give the features bar its own visual treatment. You can control icon color, text color, and the background, including a gradient when you want the bar to stand out from surrounding content.
Because these colors can override the usual theme color choices for this feature, contrast matters. Keep icons and text easy to read at a glance, especially if the bar carries important messages like shipping, returns, or support.
For broader guidance on shared theme color controls, see color settings.
Item 1
Section titled “Item 1”Use the first item for one of your most important store-wide messages. Common choices include shipping, returns, quality, or support.
Each item can include an icon, a short heading, a subheading, and an optional link. The heading uses the theme’s Heading 3 style, so brief wording usually works best.
If you want to use named icons or emojis, see the theme’s icon guidance. Leave the icon blank if you prefer a text-only item.
Item 2
Section titled “Item 2”Use the second item to reinforce another broad customer benefit. It works best for short, high-value messages rather than detailed policy text.
If you add a link, make sure the destination expands naturally on the message. A good features bar link should clarify, not distract.
Item 3
Section titled “Item 3”The third item is useful for another supporting message when you want to balance trust, convenience, and value across the bar. Keep its phrasing consistent with the other items so the bar feels intentional and easy to scan.
If the first two items already carry the strongest messages, keep this one especially concise. Dense copy makes the bar harder to use in compact layouts.
Item 4
Section titled “Item 4”The fourth item gives you extra room for one more global highlight, but it is optional. If you do not need it, leave it empty rather than forcing in a lower-priority message.
In many stores, three strong items communicate more clearly than four weaker items.
Usage notes
Section titled “Usage notes”- Start with shared defaults. Set the main colors and messages here before customizing individual Features bar sections.
- Review both layouts. Slider-style presentation can change navigation, preview, alignment, and visibility compared with a static grid or stacked layout, so check desktop and mobile views.
- Use fallback styling intentionally. Blank, transparent, or default-style values usually preserve the surrounding theme look, while explicit colors, gradients, or media overrides make the bar feel more independent.
- Keep navigation clear. If you add links or menu-driven content, make sure the order and visibility still lead customers to the right destination, especially on mobile-only controls.
- Keep copy scannable. Treat each item like a quick benefit statement rather than a full explanation.
- Use only the strongest items. Leaving an item blank is often better than adding a message that does not earn its space.
