Quantity selector
This block adds a quantity picker to the product form and can also show stock status for the current product or variant. It works best when customers may buy more than one unit or when inventory visibility helps them decide quickly. For broader theme structure guidance, see Shopify documentation on sections and blocks
Core settings
Section titled “Core settings”Use the quantity selector to keep quantity changes close to the purchase flow. The source-provided Company XYZ documentation on the Quantity selector block link covers the canonical reference for this block.
You can optionally show availability alongside the quantity control. This is most useful for limited-stock products, popular variants, or assortments where customers benefit from knowing whether an item is in stock before adding more units.
The low stock threshold controls when the block switches from normal availability to a low stock notice. Set it at a level that reflects genuine scarcity rather than everyday inventory, so the message feels helpful instead of overly promotional.
Set the low stock threshold conservatively. If customers see low stock notices too often, the message can lose credibility.
Standard block settings
Section titled “Standard block settings”Visibility settings
Section titled “Visibility settings”Use visibility settings to control whether this block appears on mobile, desktop, or both. This is helpful when your product layout uses different purchase controls or spacing on smaller screens.
If you hide the block on one device size, make sure customers can still change quantity elsewhere in that version of the layout. The shared behavior is described in the source-provided Company XYZ documentation on visibility settings.
Usage notes
Section titled “Usage notes”- Keep it near purchase actions. Place this block close to the add-to-cart area so customers can change quantity without breaking their flow.
- Show stock only when useful. Enable availability when it improves confidence or urgency, and leave it off when it adds unnecessary detail.
- Choose a believable threshold. Use a low stock number that signals true scarcity, not routine inventory levels.
- Check variant states. Review in-stock, low-stock, and unavailable variants to make sure the messaging stays clear.
- Plan responsive layouts. If the block is hidden on mobile or desktop, confirm another visible quantity control supports that purchase journey.
- Review both screen sizes. Quantity controls and stock messaging can behave differently on desktop and mobile, so check alignment, spacing, and readability in both views.
