Section basics

Manage sections and blocks in Align using the Shopify theme editor.

Add a section

Use sections to build and organize content in your Align theme templates.

From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes
Find your Align theme, then select Customize.
Select the template you want to edit from the drop-down menu.
Select + Add section.
Choose a section from the list, or use the Search bar to find one by name or term.
Select the new section to edit its blocks.
Optional: Drag the ⋮⋮ icon next to a section to change its position on the page.
Select Save.

Edit a section to update its content and adjust the options available for that section in Align.

From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes
Find your Align theme, then select Customize.
Select the template that contains the section from the drop-down menu.
Select the section to load its content in the preview and open its available options.
Optional: Select an individual block to edit the content within that block.
Select Save.

Duplicate a section or block when you want to reuse its content and settings as a starting point.

From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes
Find your Align theme, then select Customize.
Select the template that contains the section or block from the drop-down menu.
Select the section or block you want to duplicate.
Select the ... button beside the section name in the sidebar, then select Duplicate.
Select Save.

Hide a section or block when you may want to use it again later. Remove it when it is no longer needed.

From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes
Find your Align theme, then select Customize.
Select the template that contains the section you want to edit from the drop-down menu.
Select the section to load its content in the preview and open its available options.
Select the eye icon to hide or show a section or block.
Select Remove to delete a section or block.

[!CAUTION] Removing a section or block deletes it from the template. Hide it instead if you may want to use it again.

Choose the right template. Sections and blocks are edited within the template where they appear.
Use duplication for consistency. Duplicate an existing section or block before making variations to preserve the original setup.
Review the page order. Rearrange sections to make the most important content easier for visitors to find.
Save your changes. Select Save after adding, editing, duplicating, rearranging, hiding, or removing content.
