How do I update my theme?

When an Align update is available, Shopify can add an updated copy to your theme library without replacing your live theme. Review that copy before publishing it.

Update Align

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
2. Find Align and select its version or update notification.
3. Review the update details, then select Add to theme library.
4. When the updated copy is ready, select Review theme.
5. Preview important templates (see Shopify documentation on templates) and test navigation, product pages, the cart, app blocks, and any custom styling.
6. Publish the updated copy when you are satisfied with the results.

Shopify carries supported theme-editor customizations into compatible updates, including settings, sections, templates, and app extensions. For app extensions, see Shopify documentation on extending themes with apps. Custom code is included only when it does not conflict with the update, so review those changes carefully.

Shopify may also apply automated updates for bug or security fixes. These updates are designed not to change your store’s content, settings, or appearance. See Shopify documentation on updating themes and the Company XYZ release notes for more information.

Keep the previous theme in your library until you have finished reviewing the updated version.
