Dynamic checkout

Understand how dynamic checkout buttons work on Align product pages and what determines the options customers see.

In Align, dynamic checkout buttons let customers buy the product they are viewing without first going through the cart. The button appears beside Add to cart and takes customers to the checkout method shown on the button.

For configuration details, see Shopify documentation on showing accelerated checkout buttons on your online store

Dynamic checkout buttons support one product variant per purchase. For example, a customer can buy two red T-shirts, but they cannot use the button to buy both a red T-shirt and a blue T-shirt in the same purchase.

The button shown to each customer can vary based on:

  • Your payment settings
  • Whether Shop Promise is active, which prioritizes Shop Pay over other checkout methods
  • The customer’s browser
  • The customer’s device
  • The customer’s payment history

There are two types of dynamic checkout buttons:

  1. Unbranded

Displays Buy it now. Selecting this button skips the cart and opens checkout.

  2. Branded

Displays the logo of an available accelerated checkout method. Selecting this button opens that payment method so the customer can complete their purchase. For payment-method details, see Shopify documentation on accelerated checkouts and accelerated checkout buttons

    Available accelerated checkout methods include:

Only payment methods enabled in your payment settings can appear to customers. If no third-party accelerated checkout method is active, customers see the unbranded Buy it now button.
