How do I use a custom font?

Use custom font settings to match your store typography to your brand.

Align includes built-in font choices under Theme settings → Fonts. If the font you need is not available there, you can add a licensed custom font and assign it to specific text styles.

  1. In the theme editor, open Theme settings → Fonts.
  2. In Custom fonts, add the font using either:
    • the code supplied by your font provider; or
    • hosted .woff or .woff2 font-file URLs.
  3. Enter the font family name exactly as it is defined by the provider or hosted font.
  4. In the custom font assignments, choose where to use it—for example, body text, buttons, captions, card titles, or selected heading levels.
  5. Set the appropriate weight and style, then save your changes.
  6. Preview several templates to check readability and consistency.

For general navigation in the theme editor, see Shopify documentation on the theme editor

Start with one important role, such as your main headings, before applying the font more broadly. For all supported options, see the Align custom font settings reference.

Use properly licensed font files and verify the family name and file URLs carefully. If the font cannot load, the storefront will use a fallback font.
